Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

I have an announcement.... (DRUM ROLL PLEASE)..... We were ALL fearfully and wonderfully made (period)!  I'm sure at some point in our lives, we've suffered some sort of self-esteem issues because of situations or people in our lives that made us feel unworthy.  However, I am here to tell you (as well as myself) that yes, you are worthy!

What drives your self-esteem?  I can remember a time when my self-esteem wasn't based on the thoughts of myself, but instead it was solely based on the thoughts, opinions, words, and actions of others towards me.  Does this sound familiar to anyone else?  It's a crazy concept to take in because naturally, self-esteem should be based on what one believes of "himself"... But of course, we tend to develop a sense of "self" by what others or even society identifies us as.  Now imagine, if you will, that you made a sound decision to tune out all of the outside influences and ONLY accepted what God has determined that you are?  Can you really picture yourself the way God sees you?  Well, I am here to tell you that YES, it is possible...

Today you may have woken up believing that you were just an ordinary caterpillar.  Perhaps your environment told you that you were going to just survive the day with no particular goal in mind or an aspiration to do something great.  Although you probably believe, deep down within yourself, that there is something wonderful brewing, you still weren't quite convinced that you were capable of being great!  Maybe there was a naysayer telling you how worthless you were or maybe you've been compared to others who amounted to something great and you haven't met that expectation yet.  Whatever the situation is, you have a choice to either continue slithering around like a simple caterpillar or you can take things a step further and strive to be the butterfly that God intended for you to be.

Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to trust ourselves to believe what God says about us rather than what others have to say.  Our self-esteem should solely be based on what God says we are.  It's a lesson that I've had to accept for my own life and it's something that all of us can truly benefit from.  If you didn't catch that at the beginning of this blog, let me remind you that you were fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14)!
